Switching from Refworks

UW Superior will no longer be subscribing to Refworks as of January 2012. We will be switching to Zotero. Zotero will be available on all library computers and some selected computer labs across campus in January. To learn more about Zotero, including how to transfer your Refworks library to Zotero, see our guide.

Access RefWorks

Access RefWorks by clicking here.

Hint:  Sometimes you may have to allow your computer to accept popups in order for RefWorks to work.

Exporting Items from Refworks into Zotero

If you're looking to make the plunge and switch from Refworks to Zotero here are some tips to transfer your library. Be sure to check out our Zotero guide as well.

  1. In RefWorks, click on References--Export. Choose All References, or My List, or a folder. Keep the format as Bibliographic Software.
  2. Click Export to Text File. This takes you to the download screen, where you will be prompted to save the text file. Your browser may block this action (if pop-ups are blocked); if so, click the Download It link.
  3. Open the Zotero pane by clicking the Zotero icon in the lower right corner of your browser. Click the Actions icon (looks like a gear) and select Import.
